Cabo da Roca, Portugal

Cabo da Roca, Portugal

Cabo da Roca, or the westernmost place of the European continent. Short description:  first of all it’s very important to take a thicker coat, even if you go in summer, when we went in Cabo da Roca it was about 15 degrees with a little fog and in Cascais for example it was 27 degrees…The land is very beauty, the Cabo da Roca plateau is at an altitude of 150 meters above sea level. There is not much to do, admire the ocean view and the panorama to Sintra, and of course to take a lot of pictures. For those with a better physical condition, they can descend down to the ocean.  As you look to the ocean, the way is to go on left. I did not arrive down to ocean, because I stopped to see some young going on the wire between two cliffs with the ocean below (see pictures). When you leaving do not forget to enter the souvenir shop and here you can buy a personalized diploma with your name attesting that you were at the end of Europe, it costs about 11 euros.

How to get to Cabo da Roca:

If you do not have a car and you come from Lisbon, then you take the train on the Lisbon (Cais do Sodre railway station) route to Cascais. If you want to admire the entire ocean coast, it's good to sit on the left in the direction of the train. Once you arrive in Cascais at the exit of the train station (you will see a roundabout at the exit) keep right and go to the first intersection you will see a Cascais Villa mall cross here get to the side with the store and take it to the left,  you will see a rental car Europcar Cascais, take it to his right and descend some steps and practice you arrive at Cascais Bus Terminal. Here, look for line 403 that actually goes to Sintra through Cabo da Roca, the time to Cabo da Roca is about 25 minutes. From Cabo da Roca, if you want to visit Sintra, take the same bus to Sintra.Well, that's all I had to say about Cabo da Roca.
